A sketch of my son Sam. Done on my iPhone with the SketchTime app and Sensu Brush.
The kid needed some game-time before heading back to his CIT duties at Camp Halfblood. So he had some quality time with Civ V. Both boys have told me I need to get my empire building cap back on and try this version.
I was playing with a new app, repix, that a customer had recommended. It is a blast to use. I grabbed this recent photo of Sam on his first day of work at the gym, he was throwing up the, “Dad go away” hand.
Sam doing a little studying in our bed.
Sam cheering that he has a 100 in algebra.
Studies show that teenagers needs a lot of sleep. Sam is trying desperately to get as much as he can. Here he is shown on my bed, seemingly incapable of getting up and moving.
Kids do this. Sit at laptops. With headphones on.
When the kids were younger we used to draw together quite a bit. Making robots, monsters and of course cats. There was a sketch of a warrior cat that Sam and I did on the fridge and it was todays subject (continuing to have fun using the app Procreate with my Sensu brush).
Hanging outside at the pool where Sam’s violin lessons are held. I would have drawn the two people in the pool but they were *cough* very interested in each other and I thought it polite to be looking in different direction.
Sam made a really cool re-curve bow out of pvc the other day. He went and bought himself some good arrows and practiced out in the courtyard. No passer-bys or small animal were injured ;-)
Sam and I toured the UPenn campus last weekend. We ate lunch at the White Dog Cafe, quite tasty.
Sam is soooo close to passing Gloria in height!
Another of Sam, our handsome young man. Ready to perform with the Austin Youth Orchestra.
Still getting used to SketchTime. Like the loose line quality a lot and it is fast.
Caught a photo of Sam standing in the kitchen and used it as the subject for todays daily painting. They grow up fast, he is almost fourteen.
Winter break. Sweet. Sam crawled into our bed and slept late.
I have been somewhat determined to get this image to work. Using layers on the ipad, I wound up turning off a couple of layers and it left me with this mosaic like portrait. Like it. Done.
Gloria reading, Lewis sleeping, and Sam looking off in the distance envisioning worlds unknown. Nothing beats being snuggled up with loved ones.
I was working from a pretty crudy photo, but I really wanted to do my daily painting of our boys. They are pretty awesome young men. Not that this painting reveals any of that :)
The kid keeps on growing, it must be all those breakfast taco’s I make him in the morning.
Hmmm, this doesn’t seem quite right, but parts of it are nice.
He has some good form that Sam. He shoot a personal best today.
Sam’s Austin Youth Orchestra during rehearsal, I was sitting behind the cello section.
Another sketch/painting done on the ipad. This one using the watercolor brushes. The effect is really similar to actual watercolor. Kind of amazing.

These little turkey’s that Sam drew when he was little are so cute, I just want to keep painting them.

Sam kindly sat on the couch in the courtyard for me so I could do my painting today.
