Returning home late from a meeting meant, either skip the daily painting *gasp*, or grab something quick, open a beer, and paint. Gloria had brought home some clementines so there you go, subject solved. A couple of weeks ago I made up a little jar of medium (a 50/50 mix of OMS and linseed oil) and I am really enjoying it. It seems to give me the viscosity I like while not getting to muddy.

There were a lot of distractions on Saturday and I wound up stopping before this got done. So I guess you would call this a work in progress (or not, maybe it is done, rules are rules). We have a very urban view of downtown Austin from our studio.
My lovely wife Gloria gave me an awesome gift for Christmas. Oil painting classes with our neighbor and fabulous painter, Valerie Fowler. Working from a sketch this is the result from class one. Oil is sooo, different from watercolor!
This painting took a real turn today. I decided before class that I would wrap it up, but also wanted to loosen up a bit.
